Pressure imbalances are developed in the building when air from the supply register of a forced air system is obstructed from reaching the return register. The pressure differences seek to balance themselves by leaking through available cracks and holes. The out-of-balance condition will reduce the efficiency of the heating, cooling, or ventilation system. While undercutting the doors can help, this is usually insufficient. Adding Tamarack Return Air Pathways inside interior walls during wall construction however, will allow the system to work more efficiently, balancing the pressure in the building to reduce the chance of inadvertent leakage. A Return Air Pathway will be effective regardless of location, providing it is placed inside a wall that separates an air supply and return duct. A variety of sizes are offered. Return Air Pathways include two white grills and have a sheetrock flange. The depth between flanges is 3.5 inches. The overall depth is 4.625 inches. This has a two-piece design, allowing it to be installed in either new or existing construction.
