It safely detects the presence of reverse polarity or open ground, two conditions that can cause a major electrical hazard and damage appliances. Now you can plug in your SmartPlug cordset to make sure pedestals are safe before connecting your RV or boat to shore power. The connector uses blue and red LEDs to indicate the status of the connection. If only the blue light is on, power is on and you have a safe connection. If blue and red are on, the neutral has been incorrectly wired, causing reverse polarity. If only the red LED is on, a potentially dangerous ground condition is present. If no LEDs illuminate, there is no power, so check your connections. In the case of reverse polarity or open ground, disconnect your plug and notify management.
