RED original Shimano mineral oil for tip-top performance of your Shimano brand hydraulic disc brakes. Comes in smaller 100ml and large 1 litre containers. If your disc brake has become spongy feeling or you can touch your fingers at the handlebar when you pull the brake, chances are you’ll need a brake bleed. Note that in conjunction with bleeding your brakes, you may need to clean the pressure foot parts and clean/lubricate your pressure foot seals. Brake pads/discs may also need to be replaced if overly noisy or worn. Tips While smaller, 100ml bottles provide enough fluid to bleed both brakes several times. DOT fluid absorbs moisture from the air, meaning it is best bought in quantities you’ll use fairly quickly. Storing mineral for quite some time once opened is fine, as it does not absorb moisture in the same way. To bleed your brakes, you’ll need syringes with the appropriate size of adapters for your bleeding ports. These are not always the same size, so check your manufacturers instruction handbook or online to narrow things down. Brake fluid disposal Dispose of your brake fluid in accordance with local guidelines and never put it down drains or the sink! Sounding like too much hassle?
